Ryan Chandler, AbbVie, Knowledge Graph Engineer
The presentation by Ryan Chandler, PhD a Knowledge Graph Engineer from AbbVie, delves into "GeneRank," a project focused on leveraging AbbVie’s R&D Convergence Hub, ARCH Knowledge Graph to extract valuable gene-disease associations. This initiative capitalizes on an expertly harmonized network of knowledge from hundreds of independent sources within the biopharmaceutical domain. The key aim is to employ algorithms to yield actionable insights that significantly enhance the drug discovery process and disease understanding.
Ryan introduces the ARCH Knowledge Graph, detailing its composition which includes over 100 million nodes across 31 entity types and over a billion relationships. These encompass a wide array of biological interactions such as gene expression, phosphorylation, molecular cleavage, and many more complex interactions relevant to biopharmaceutical contexts. The presentation then transitions to how weighted personal PageRank is emplyed to surface relationships between genes and health conditions. The analysis can be tuned to expose either clinical or novel association characeristics by modifying the weighting profile on the source data. Validation of the findings is presented. Then, additional potential research questions and the furture of graph analysis at AbbVie is discussed.
