Tara Raafat, Bloomberg, Head of (Semantic) Metadata and Knowledge graph Strategy
Building a knowledge graph (KG) in an enterprise is more than just a technical endeavor — it is a strategic, organizational, and technological transformation. Enterprises embarking on this journey face a multitude of critical decisions, including: Where should the process start? Should you build from scratch or buy an existing solution? How do you assemble the right team? What tools, standards, and technologies should you adopt? Most importantly, how do you align stakeholders and secure buy-in from the C-suite?
In this talk, I will share insights drawn from my experience implementing knowledge graphs across disparate industries and organizations, ranging from small enterprises to global corporations. Together, we will explore the key questions you need to ask and the crucial decisions you need to make throughout the knowledge graph development lifecycle. We will also examine realistic timelines for achieving results and identify suitable use cases, while discussing expectations for delivering tangible value. This discussion will be framed within the nuanced challenges enterprises face, considering their size, business type, and stage of both their KG journey and overall technological maturity.
