The tussle between graph databases vs. relational databases is misplaced and hinders wider adoption of graph databases. Many graph databases bring tremendous value, but at the cost of the bread and butter data management issues that relational databases are extremely good at. If the two can co-exist so that one can benefit the other, it will further spur graph database adoption.
This class will explain the differences between the two models and how they can work together. A traversal based query does not have to be at the cost of a sacrificing a high performance set-based query, or all the OLTP support that relational databases have. The two models working together opens up tremendous opportunities for the graph community.
